Titans Top 5 and Bottom 5

After last week's brutal loss to the Raiders, Titans fans need a pick-me-up. So I figured I would go through and rank the top 5 things about the Titans' organization right now. But I can't let you get too excited, so i also included the bottom 5.

Top 5

1) Marcus Mariota in the 4th quarter - Marcus Mariota has been a dissapointment through three games. While I still think he has franchise QB potential, he is clearly playing tight, and whether because of his own shortcomings or the coaching staff's, hasn't really let loose all year. But he's been money in the fourth quarter the past two weeks, leading two TD drives for the win over Detroit, and leading a TD drive and almost-not-quite game tying drive against Oakland. Now he just needs to find that success in the first  three quarters.

2) J.J. Watt's Back - It looks like J.J. Watt will be out for the season, and while we don't celebrate injuries at the Titan's blog it is perfect timing with the game against Houston coming up. I was honestly terrified of what would happen to Mariota if Watt got a direct hit on him No word yet on whether the letterman jacket had anything to do with the injury.

Put down the football Matt
3) 100 Yard Rusher - Demarco Murray ran for 114 yards, becoming the first 100 yard rusher for the Titans since Chris Johnson 2013. The Colts haven't had one since 2012, so at least we have that.

4) Matt Cassel Not Holding Footballs - Unlike the Detroit game, I didn't see a single shot of Matt Cassel holding a football. This is good. Matt Cassel should not be holding a football.

5) Jace Amaro - Amaro had 3 catches for 59 yards getting the bulk of passing downs with Delanie Walker out. He looks like he could be a solid weapon if (god forbid) Walker misses more time.

Bottom 5

1) Delanie Walker and Kendall Wright Injuries - As I said before, Mariota hasn't looked good so far. A big part of that has been the absence of Wright, a playmaker who can turn a short pass into a big gain, Players like this are critical to taking pressure off of young QBs and helping them build confidence by not having to do everything in the passing game. Add in Walker's injury, and you have a receiving corps with very only  48 YAC all season.

2) A Really Stupid Penalty - Y'all know what this is. The less said the better.

3) CBS Announcers Next Week Talking About How Brock Osweiler is 6'7" -  It's true guys! He's really tall! He even got a basketball scholarship to Gonzaga! He can see over the lineman even! It's amazing. It will be amusing until the 4:12 mark in the first quarter. By the middle of the third you'll be cowering in the corner of your room sobbing into a pillow hoping the announcers mention any other factoid at all. (Source: Pac-12 fan who experienced this throughout Osweiler's 13 year career at Arizona State)

4) Not being able to win at Nissan Stadium - The Titans have 1 win in their last 15 games at home. And Mariota had played much worse in Nashville than on the road. With two straight road games coming up, the next chance for a home win is October 16th against the Browns. Please beat the Browns guys.

5) Whatever this was.
